Support Us

Do you know a woman struggling with substance abuse? This is your chance to be part of something special and desperately needed; an inclusive, loving home for women to continue their sober journey and find themselves. Women in early recovery need time for healing. Those that care about them need to know they are safe. Your donation will be instrumental in allowing our organization to secure a residence and launch a successful program.

We accept online donations through the secure and user-friendly platform Donorbox. If you have any questions or would prefer to mail a check, please email us at iowacitysoberliving@gmail.com

The Numbers

National data regarding the rise of alcohol consumption and abuse by women is staggering, a clear and troubling trend.  Relapse rates are daunting. The need for more options is apparent.

  • 15 million people in the US are affected by Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD), 5.3 million are women
  • 95,000 die from the effects of AUD every year, 27,000 are women
  • 13,000 Iowans are admitted for AUD treatment every year, 6,000 are women
  • 80% of these women will return to use within 90 days of discharge

The Problem

In eastern Iowa, there currently are no sober living options for women outside of treatment facilities.  In addition, the cost of sober living is not covered by health insurance, so our residents must pay “out of pocket”.

Our Solution

Recovery residences, or sober living homes, bridge the gap between primary treatment and return to pretreatment responsibilities and community. Iowa City Sober Living is the first of its kind in the area.

Since sober living is not covered by health insurance, ICSL depends on donations to help these women with their stay.
